This painting depicts the very first time that the two men in the boat see a creature that as only told about in stories: the dragon. At first, dragons are legend. They ceased to exist, and nobody in our lifetime has seen a dragon. These two men are granted the sight of this beautiful and majestic full-grown dragon, and a magical energy is brought to life. What was only in stories and lure, has become reality.

The first sighting of a mythical creature from a story that has now been magically alive into the physical world, is an extraordinary moment. This is the feeling I wanted to capture in this piece. Just like when a thought, dream, or goal only exists in our mental space, when we bring it fully into fruition and it becomes part of our physical world, that is the incredible creative soul at work. It’s the most amazing feeling.

This piece is a metaphor of the once-imagined thoughts coming fully into the physical realm, and the awe-struck feeling we have when we realize: the unreal, is actually real.

This piece is Standard Wrap and it still looks great on a wall unframed since the paint extends around the sides of the canvas. It has no wall hanging hardware and can easily hang with 1 or 2 nails. Standard wrap canvas can also be framed.
